Reg: So what do you hope to accomplish by publishing Mind Games (A Brick City Story)?

Ikish: Awareness. I want the reader to be aware of the risks and whatcan happen to you or those you love if you ignore them. I want the reader to understand what can happen to your family or loved ones if you chose this type of lifestyle…And using myself asan example, and seeing where I come from, I want to show young black males and females from the “The Hood” that you can do what ever you want to do if you apply yourself and never give up, because you don’t have to turn to the streets of get involved in illegal activity to make it. There are endless amounts of things they can do legally and be successful at it.

Glam:
With all that said; who is your intended audience?

Ikish:
Mind Games: A Brick City Story is for anyone who’s old enough to understand and comprehend the message that I am trying to get across. And even though it’s a fiction novel, there are a lot of truths hidden in there.

Glam:
Okay, okay…Now lets get deep…You say Mind Games is a fiction novel with hidden truths?

Ikish:
Correct.

Glam: So tell us, what percent of the book is fiction and what percent is truth?

Ikish:
If I had to say, I’d say 60/40. 40% of Mind Games is based on the truth. I just found a way to take the truth and form the 60% of fiction into a great story. And it’s this combination of fact and fiction that drives the characters in the story.

Reg: Well, you heard here first, Mind Games: A Brick City Story is 60% fiction and 40% truth.

Glam:
I just want to know what parts are true.

Ikish: (Blushing)…I can’t tell you that, you have to figure it out.

Reg: So can you tell us a little bit about the book and the main character?

Ikish: Minds Games opens with the main character, Des, at his father’s funeral. And it’s from this chapter that sets the tone of the book. Basically, Des inherits a fortune from his father and must decide what he’s going to do with it. But before his can do anything, he must figure out who is really with him and who’s against him. It’s something like an internal war he’s in. Part of him wants to quit hustling and another part is true to the game. Aside from that, he has family drama he has to deal with. He has relationship issues he’s battling. And he has a nemesis that will stop at nothing to bring him down. And let not forget about the legal system.

Glam:
Yeah, we can’t forget them.

Reg: I know a lot of writers do research before they begin to write. So how did you do research for your book?

Ikish:
By observing my surroundings. Reading newspaper article and watching the news…But the bulk of my research came from first hand experience of the people I knew who were hustling for years and most of what I got from them were that they were tired of hustling, but it was all they knew.

Reg:
So how do they feel about you writing Mind Games? Are they supportive or against it?

Ikish: They’re all for it. Honestly, they would rather me write it 100% fact, but I couldn’t do that. I wouldn’t do that.

Glam:
Why not, if that’s what they wanted you to do?

Ikish: No comment…I’m not going to leave that open…That’s a personal issue.

Glam:  Okay, we can understand that. Here on Celebrity Blvd, we respect our celebrities’ privacy…So with that said, what surprised you most about the process of writing your book and getting it published?

Ikish:
The surprising part was seeing the completed book. Having the final book in my hands was like wow, I did it.

Glam: So what do you like to do when you’re not writing? Or is writing it for you?

Ikish:
No, I have a lot of projects I’m working on at the moment. I finished the script to Mind Games The Series and I’m in the process of directing and producing my first film title “Last Night Of Summer”.

Glam:
Okay, so you’re a busy man.

Ikish:
Hey, what can I say, I love to be creative.

Reg:
I have one last question before you leave…Are you currently working on another novel right now?

Ikish: (Smiles) I actually have about five on file ready to print and working on about five more. So you can count on me being around for a while.

Glam:
